Connect Simma to ChatGPT

ChatGPT can connect to Simma, but not on every plan, and not with the same tools on every plan. Read this section before you start so there are no surprises after you've set it up.

| Your ChatGPT plan | Can you add Simma? | What you get | |---|---|---| | Business, Enterprise, Edu | Yes, through developer mode | Everything: reads and writes, coach and athlete | | Pro | Yes, through developer mode | Read tools only. No drafts, no sending, no goal or profile changes | | Plus, Free | No | Custom connectors aren't available |

If you're on Plus or Free and want the full experience, Claude works on every individual plan.

Listed in the ChatGPT directory? Once Simma appears there, adding it is one click from the directory and steps 1 and 2 below are done for you. The rest is the same. Until then, the steps below add it as a custom connector.

What you need

The URL

https://mcp.getsimma.com/mcp

Step by step

  1. Enable developer mode. Settings, Connectors, Advanced, then turn on developer mode. On a workspace plan an admin may need to allow this.
  2. Create a connector. Give it a name — "Simma" — and paste the URL above.
  3. Choose OAuth as the authentication. Leave the client fields alone if ChatGPT lets you; Simma registers a client automatically. If ChatGPT insists on a client ID, tell us and we'll give you the value.
  4. Save, then connect. ChatGPT opens Simma's sign-in page. Sign in with the email and password you use for the Simma app.
  5. Turn it on in a conversation. In a new chat, open the tools menu, enable the Simma connector, and ask away.

Your first questions

If you're a coach:

"Who in my squad needs attention this week?"

"Give me the full picture on Sarah."

If you're an athlete:

"How is my training going?"

"Walk me through my last long ride."

For everything a coach can ask, see Every Simma Connector Tool, and What to Ask For.

On Pro: what read-only means in practice

ChatGPT Pro allows custom connectors but blocks tools that change anything. With Simma that means you can read training status, context, sessions, goals and messages, but ChatGPT will refuse to save a draft, send a message, add a goal, or change a threshold. It isn't a bug; it's the plan. The read tools are still the most useful ones for understanding an athlete, so it's worth having even so.

Sending messages

On a plan that allows writes, sending is the one action that is never silent. Before anything goes out, Simma asks you to confirm the full text. Whether ChatGPT can show that prompt in-line is something we're still verifying; where it can't, ChatGPT's own approval step is what stands between you and an unintended send, and it shows you the tool's arguments rather than the rendered email. Read them.

Who can see what

Your conversation with ChatGPT stays between you and OpenAI. Simma sees requests for data, never the words around them. The only thing that reaches another person is a message you deliberately send.

OpenAI processes your conversation under its own terms. An athlete without a coach of their own is attached to Simma's house coach account, which can read their training data as any coach can — see the privacy policy.
